Banned Books Week

This week is Banned Books Week, an event founded in 1982 by the American Library Association.  The basic idea behind this is to remind us not to take for granted the freedom to read.

The ALA put together a list of the most frequently challenged books of 2007, listed here. Also, here's a list of the most frequently challenged books from 1990 to 2000

It gives me great honor to say that I've had the opportunity to work at agencies and at times help represent the rights to a number of these books and authors, including:

Scary Stories by Alvin Schwartz
The Chocolate War and Fade by Robert Cormier
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
Heather Has Two Mommies by Leslea Newman
Julie of the Wolves by Jean Craighead George
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
The Pigman by Paul Zindel
Annie on My Mind by Nancy Garden
Terrorist by Caroline Cooney
