The Requestion. (Yup. We totally made up a word.)

re·ques·tion (r-kwschn)
noun.

1. The process of getting a request after having your ass handed to you by the same agent.
2. Is totally a word.
3. Yes, it is. Shut the Hell up.

Back when we first started querying, we were a pair of toddlers, all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, anxious for our first day of kindergarten.

You might say we were a little out of touch with reality.

What we thought would happen:

Back all you agents! Back!

Reality:
I'll eat it. But I won't like it.

After we got our asses handed to us, everything that followed was a roller-coaster of ups and downs.

Query Shark to the rescue. SOAR!

But today, we got our biggest SOAR yet. Today, we got a Requestion.

Two weeks ago, Super Agent Suzie Townsend announced on her blog that she was hosting a query contest. We couldn't help it. We had to enter.

I have to be honest, we weren't expecting much. After all, she'd already rejected us back in August. At best, we were expecting another rejection, with maybe an explanation of why she hated it.

So we sent off our query, prepared ourselves for the worst, and went on our merry little way.

And then...

"So the news on THE OTHER SIDE. I was ready to tell you that your dialogue and unconventional query wasn't going to work, but I actually like it. I'd love to see the first 5-10 pages pasted in the body of an email."

GUUUUUH?!? Suzie is actually REQUESTING from us? We had to read this several times over. We had to make sure we weren't getting some other, better writer's emails by mistake. We had check to see if our brains hadn't spontaneously combusted and were leaking out of our ears.

The Requestion. As mythical and elusive as the Yeti. Almost.

Oh, hey guys what's up?
So as you can imagine, we're currently tap-dancing on Cloud 9, while riding unicorns made of rainbows.

Last words of Sgt. Insulin: RETREAT DAMMIT RETREAT! THERE'S TOO MANY OF THEM!!!
What about you? Have you ever had a Requestion?
