Looking at Lincoln by Maira Kalman - ADVISABLE

Kalman, Maira  Looking at Lincoln  Nancy Paulsen Books, 2012.  $17.99 PICTURE BOOK Content: G.

A little girl sees a man that reminds her of Abraham Lincoln while she is on a walk, so she decides to go to the library and research some facts about President Lincoln.  As she searches the books, there are different facts with the little girl’s commentary on each page to make up the rest of the book.   Some of the facts include his feelings about slavery and democracy, his family life, his upbringing and his death.

This book has beautiful illustrations and is a great introductory book to get kids interested in the 16th President of the United States.

EL (K-3)-ADVISABLE.  Reviewer, C. Peterson.
