Don't Chicken Out by Shawn K. Stout-ADVISABLE

Stout, Shawn K., Don’t Chicken Out. Pgs. 168. Aladdin, 2013.$15.99. Language; G, Mature Content; G, Violence: G

Fiona Finklestein is tired of hearing no from everyone Determined to set out and prove that she is in fact old enough to fly from Maryland to California by herself, she takes a job babysitting chickens at the town’s fair. It’s hard, however, being responsible when no one’s looking. Will she be able to prove that she’s responsible?

A quick read for fans of chick-lit. Although the characters are not described in great detail, they’re likable and realistic. The plot is simple, but funny and entertaining. Readers who like realistic fiction, humor, and friendship fiction will enjoy reading this book. EL (K-3), EL. ADVISABLE. Reviewer; Kira M, Youth Services Librarian, WHI Public Library.
