Random House, 2012. $3.99.  EARLY READER.  A Step 1 book from the Step Into Reading series, this one shines with its simple rhymes.  Large typeface and only a few words per page make this a perfect beginning reader.  Today there will be a ballet show and all of the dancers are so excited.  They put on their costumes and preform in front of their families.  Illustrator Shelagh McNicholas does an excellent job of portraying multiracial characters and even a boy who likes ballet too.  The illustrations are pretty and perfect for appealing to young girls.  Pre-K – ESSENTIAL.  Samantha Hastings, MA, MLS.
