The Longest Night: a Passover Story by Laurel Snyder –NOT RECOMMENDED

Snyder, Laurel and Illustrated by Chien, Catia The Longest Night: a Passover Story  40 pgs. Schwartz & Wade, 2013. $12.23.  Content: Language: G (0 swears);  Mature Content: G ;  Violence: G.
A picture book about the Jewish Exodus told from the point of view of a little slave girl. She goes through the various plagues with her family and even witnesses the parting of the red sea. This book presents a special point of view to help today’s children understand Passover traditions.
I was very interested read this book and agreed with the author about this point of view, a child going through the events, was missing and necessary. But I thought the lyrical verse was not the best way to present it and came across poorly. In my opinion the foggy blurry artwork was just dreadful. Without context I wouldn't recommend putting this book on your shelves.
