Crankenstein by Samantha Berger –ADVISABLE

Berger, Samantha and Illustrated by Santat, Dan  Crankenstein 40 pgs. Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, 2013. $12.74.  Content: Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: G; Violence: G.
Any child can become a Crankenstein. Whenever things are miserable, not going well, or just plain awful. This includes getting up early, time for bed, hot days, cold days, well the list goes on and on.  How can we get a normal child back? What happens when two Crankensteins meet up?
First off the illustrations are top notch. This is a fantastic book for showing off at a story time. The book is large, the illustrations are interesting, bright, and really pop!  As for the story, well everyone can relate to being cranky! But the solution was a bit odd and kind of a let down. I think a library lesson using this story would fall flat at the end.
