When Michael Walden—a deep-sea diver who lost his parents in a violent hurricane—arrives in town, Leesie sees someone who needs her. They fall for one another, even though his dreams are tied to the depths of the ocean and hers to salvation above.
Will their intense chemistry be too strong to resist?
Leesie and Michael must make the hardest choice of their lives: whether to follow their beliefs or their hearts.
Readers will be swept away by this tale of forbidden romance told in online chats, Leesie’s chapbook poems, and Michael’s dive log. It’s as steamy as Twilight and just as clean.
I wasn't very sure to read this book, because I'm not a Mormon. But in the end I read it, and really liked it.
Leesie is a Mormon girl. She has lots of rules, and her dream is to go to college. She can't stand being at her school, where people doesn't understand or respect her beliefs. But then she mets Michael, and everything changes.
Michael just lost both of his parents at a hurricane. He's broken, and doesn't feel like living. But the he mets Leesie, and finally he starts to feel better.
Their romance is very intense and beautiful, but at the same time sad. Michael is trying to get over his parent's death, and he needs Leesie. And Leesie, for the first time, is in love. But she is a Mormon, and some of her rules are no tongue kissing, no sex or anything like that.
I can't relate to Leesie's beliefs, but I liked her. She was always a strong girl and I respect her because of that. Of course, when love and passion hits her, she can't decide what to do. She wants to be with Michael, but does that has to mean loosing her beliefs and dreams?
Michael was way too intense for me. He was very sad, and he needed help. But with Leesie, he feels good. He wants to be with her, he is in love with her...but at the same time, he was always pushing her. Sometimes he said things to her that I didn't like, like she had to "prove her love". But at the same time, I kind of understood him. Michael thinks all of her rules are stupid, because he doesn't have the same beliefs.
Their romance is sad because you know that it isn't going to work, unless one of them yield. Is it going to be Leesie, or Michael?
This is the second book I read from this author and it didn't disappointed me. Her writing is beautiful and I even cried at the ending, because even when my favorite endings are the happy ones, this one is kind of happy but very real.
I only read it in a couple of hours and I want to read the next one, called Unbroken Connection.
