Wiggins, Bethany Stung, 320 pages, Walker and Company, Language: G, Violence: PG-13, Mature content: G.
The world has changed overnight. At least, that's how Fiona sees it. The last thing she remembers before she woke up is being thirteen, happy and surrounded by her loving family. But now she's alone, and definitely not thirteen any more. The only thing she knows for certain is that the mark- a tattoo of a circle surrounded by ten spidery lines on her hand- cannot be seen by anyone. There are monsters roaming the street, ready to tear her apart without a thought and she is going to have to fight for her life, because it seems no one is on her side.
This is definitely a perfect book for a gamer girl. It has the feel of a sci-fi adventure game that is non-stop action. And on top of that, there's the sweetness of a love story. I was thrilled to find out the cause of the apocalypse in the book. It was creative, and definitely well thought out. This book was so refreshing for me, as I'm used to being able to predict an entire plot. Stung kept me surprised and connected to the characters throughout every page. I can't wait to read Wiggins's other writing, because if it's anything like this, it's bound to be absolutely fantastic.
