Meisel, Paul See Me Dig (I Like to Read). 28 pgs. Holiday House, 2013. $14.95. PICTURE BOOK.  This “I Like to Read” book is full of color and energy.  A group of dogs want to dig.  But they are chased away from each digging hole, until they dig up a treasure box.  Up until this point in the book, it’s light-hearted and fun. With the turn of a page, the story brings a delightful surprise. But I imagine that when ghostly pirates emerge from the treasure box, some early readers might be frightened.  One of the dogs decides to face his fears and stand up to the ghosts. The words on each page are simple yet interesting.  The illustrations are fantastic.  Pre-K. EL(K-3).  ADVISABLE.  Reviewed by: SL.
