Vote For Me by Robin Palmer-

Palmer, Robin, Vote For Me. G.P. Putnam and Sons, 2011. Pgs. 210. Language: G, Violence: G, Sexual Content: G
When Lucy B. Parker announces to her family that she’s thinking of running for class president, they, particularly her stepsister-to-be superstar, Laurel Moses, jump to the conclusion that she really is running. Laurel, in fact, announces all over her social media account that Lucy is setting out to end dork discrimination if she becomes president. When the most popular girl in school finds out about Lucy ‘s attempts at popularity smackdown, she tries to make Lucy’s life miserable. To make matters worse, when Lucy finds out about Laurel’s announcement, the two have a huge fight and now Lucy and her friends are on their own for getting her elected. With the popular girls trying at every opportunity to publicly humiliate her, can Lucy win the election and finally get to make the difference she’s always wanted to make?
Although the author goes a bit heavy on the dramatics, the characters are fun to read about. The plot is interesting, funny, and fairly unique. The journal/email to a celebrity format at the beginning of the chapter adds a unique twist to the book. Readers who like realistic fiction, New York, and school stories will enjoy reading this book.
