Petty, JT and Florido, Hilary Bloody Chester. First Second Press, 2012. $18.99, 143 pages. Rated R across the board. Contains blood, a little sex, lots of swears (F’s and N’s).
Bloody Chester is the nickname of the main character in this twisted western comic. Bailed out of jail and sent to burn a town in the way of the railroad, Chester becomes involved in a mystery containing a strange plague, a beautiful woman, and some angry spirits. This is a great comic, but I can’t recommend it for students. It is a mature story with enough language and innuendo that it doesn’t belong in a school library.
HS – NOT RECOMMENDED. Reviewer: Ben
