All of these stories share one common thread: a prophecy determines the fate of its characters. What makes the book exciting is that the fourteen authors who contributed to this work have produced unique interpretations of a "prophecy"--ranging from fortune cookies to voiced expectations to oracles' predictions. My favorites are "The Chosen One" and "The Killing Garden" because they feel like complete stories despite their short length, unlike the cliffhangers found in "The Mind Is a Powerful Thing" and "Improbable Futures." My least favorites are "The Angriest Man" because it still makes no sense after re-reading it and "Death for the Deathless" because it is responsible for the sexual content rating.
