Vulliamy, Clara Martha Bunny Loves School 32 pgs. Albert Whitman & Company, 2013. $12.67. Content: Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: G; Violence: G. PICTURE BOOK
Martha Bunny is so excited for the first day of school, but she knows its important to make sure her younger bunny brothers don’t feel excluded. While getting ready for school by gathering up all her very favorite things, Martha creates a Happy Bunny club for them. Finally she is ready for school, but she has so much stuff she can’t fit out the door! She decides that her little brothers will do an excellent job caring for all her favorite things while she is away.
This is one of the most adorable books I have ever read. Its bright, varied, fun and keeps readers attention. While I am glad that Martha Bunny is excited for school, I think this book is more about the siblings left behind. For me the ideal situation for this book would be a family with lots of kids or maybe a pre-school, not an elementary school library.
