Cocca-Leffler, Maryann Theo’s Mood: a Book of Feelings 24 pgs. Albert Whitman & Company, 2013. $14.40. Content: Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: G; Violence: G. PICTURE BOOK
Theo is supposed to talk about his mood in class, since its Mood Monday. All the other students have an easy time picking a mood and sharing why they feel the way they do. But Theo is confused. Finally he figures out that the birth of his new baby sister has him feeling lots of emotions, the emotions all add up to the feeling of being a big brother.
This is a great story for showcasing emotions. I keep seeing a ton of books about anger and tempers, so this book was much better variety for me. Students will relate to the situations related in this book. The illustrations are varied and bright. Great for a school library and even better as a gift for a new big brother.
