Bad Kitty decides that he wants to run for President of the Neighborhood Cat Club. His competition if Big Kitty from across the street. Bad Kitty goes through all of the processes of necessary to run for president , including: campaigning, preliminaries, debates and voting.
In a creative way, Nick Bruel explains how a democratic government works. Bad Kitty gets to the end of his campaigning and when he tries to vote for himself, he realizes that he didn’t register to vote. Eventually, Strange Kitty wins because all of the kitties vote for themselves, except for one who votes for Strange Kitty. This book has good explanations of the process of campaigning and voting that are simple enough that kids can understand. Bad Kitty is funny because he does naughty things like make fun of the other politician and go door-to-door to the annoying cats in his neighborhood. This is a fun read while learning something at the same time.
