Ollie and Claire by Tiffany Strelitz Haber - ADVISABLE

Haber, Tiffany Strelitz  Ollie and Claire Illustrated by Matthew Cordell Philomel Books, 2013.  $16.99 PICTURE BOOK  Content: G.
Ollie and Claire are best friends and they like to do everything together on a special schedule that they follow every day.  However, Claire is getting bored and she starts to look for something more exciting to do, so when she sees a note posted in town to go to new places and try new things she goes home and packs her bag.  While waiting for Monday at 4:00, the time she is supposed to meet this new person to go and do fun things with, she writes Ollie a note and tells him that she will miss him, but will be back.  She is shocked to find out that Ollie is the person who posted the note in town and they are thrilled to be going together on new adventure and try new things.
This is a cute book about friendship and trying new things.  It’s a bit predictable, but the idea is cute and young readers will be happy to see the two friends together on their adventures.  The illustrations are cute and the story reads in rhyme, which makes it fun to read out loud.
EL (K-3)-ADVISABLE.
