A Year Without Autumn by Liz Kessler - ADVISABLE

Kessler, Liz  A Year Without Autumn 294 pages. Candlewick Press, 2011.  $15.99.  Content: PG (Divorce, horse injury, nothing bad, but not G).  Jenni stays at the same timeshare every year with her family and her favorite part is that her best friend, Autumn, and her family also stay in the same place.  One day while Jenni is waiting for the elevator to go to Autumn’s room, an older elevator opens the door.  When Jenni gets on the elevator and goes up one floor, she gets out to find that time has moved forward exactly one year.  Autumn’s family has suffered a tragedy and Jenni is confused but wants to help.  When Jenni goes back downstairs to her family, she gets back on the old elevator, to find that time goes back one year, but the tragedy has already happened, so she can’t prevent it.  As Jenni tried to use the time traveling elevator to help Autumn’s family, she learns to have confidence in herself and becomes a better friend.

I liked this book because it encourages good friendship and believing in yourself.
