Oh No, George! ADVISABLE

Haughton, Chris. Oh No, George! unpged. Candlewick Press, 2012. $15.99. (PICTURE BOOK) Harry leaves his dog George home alone with the instructions to be good. George wants to be good. He tries, but temptations are too great. When Harry comes home, George feels bad and apologizes. When he is on a walk with Harry, he encounters similar temptations, but is able to leave them alone. Then he faces something new. What will George do? The block-style illustrations are mostly in reds, oranges, and purples, except for the people who are green and blue. George has big, expressive eyes that lend humor to the story. In the same way that the dog in the movie "Up" completely demonstrates “doggy-ness” when he says, “I just met you and I love you,” this story portrays some very lovable canine characteristics.
