Rivers, Phoebe Playing with Fire, 152 p. Simon and Shuster, 2013. $16. Content: G (some danger, but nothing graphic – unless you don’t like the paranormal).
Sara wants to tell her best friend Lily about her powers to see and talk to ghosts. When the girls are invited to a week at a teen-friendly family vacation spot, she thinks she has found a perfect time. Sara’s plans are derailed by a pushy newcomer and a vicious, dangerous ghost. This time their lives may be in danger if Sara can’t put together the courage to tell her friend and defeat the ghost.
I like Rivers’ supernatural series – it is just scary enough, without being pathological.
