Rushby, Allison The Heiresses, 344 p. St. Martin’s Griffin, 2013. $10. Mature Content: R (smoking, drinking, frequent mentions of casual sex).
In 1908, a young woman bore, supposedly, three little girls, and then died. 17 years later, their aunt has finally found them all and brought them together to claim their inheritance. The girls have extremely different personalities and one of them looks nothing like the others. Each of them has their own reasons for wanting to settle for some money and not all of it, but if they can actually start working together, they can solve the mystery of their birth and possibly find some happiness.
There may be a few high schools out there that might want to included this title, otherwise, I would leave it to the adults. It is much more a trashy romance novel than any kind of historic fictin.
ADULTS ONLY. Cindy, Library Teacher.
