Inhuman by Kat Falls - ADVISABLE

Falls, Kat Inhuman, 373 pgs. Scholastic Press, 2013. Language - PG (32 swears, 0 "f"), Sexual Content - PG-13; Violence - PG-13;

Lane knows how to stay away from germs and survive on the west side of the wall where it's safe. What Lane doesn't realize is that, thanks to her father's bedtime stories, she also knows how to survive on the other side of the wall in the Feral Zone. Her knowledge is put to the test when she's thrown into the Feral Zone and given five days to follow the Head of Biohazard Defense's instructions or else face her father's execution.

Kat Falls has fabricated one of the best post-apocalyptic tales I've read in a long time. Not only is it exciting and heart-wrenching, it gives an interesting new take on chimeras. Falls's heroine is strong and determined, making her a pleasure to follow east, past the wall. Furthermore, I think the idea of clues left to Lane by her father to help her survive being parts of the bedtime stories he told was brilliant.
