The Fire Chronicle by John Stephens - ADVISABLE

Stephens, John The Fire Chronicle, 437 pgs. Alfred A. Knopf, 2012. Language - G, Sexual Content - PG; Violence - PG;

Now that Kate has the Atlas, it's time to start looking for the Chronicle--and Michael is in charge. Kate has her own mission in the past, 1899 to be exact, as her brother and sister head off to Antarctica in the present. All three of these siblings have difficult decisions to make when they learn more about the predicament they're in that will change who they are and what will become of the power forming in their hands.

Initially, I was really excited to read The Emerald Atlas's sequel, but the reading started out slower than I wanted it to. Fortunately, it soon picked up and the more I read, the more intrigued I became. However, this has the worst (or best, depending on how you look at it) cliffhanger I've read in a long time. Readers might want to hold off reading it until the third one comes out.
