Reading Romances June Challenge!

I failed miserable at my last month challenge....I think it's two failed months now. But not because I don't want to read the books but because I don't have enough time! Anyway, I'll really make an effort to read this month book:

Read a book that has Wedding, Marriage, Proposal, Bride, Groom or Engagement in the title or has a Wedding theme cover.

Reading Romances April Challenge

It's time again to pick my book for April's challenge. You can choose between 5 different themes, but I want to "Read one book that was nominated for the RITA or Golden Heart award!"

So I read the list of nominees and discovered that I already read a few of them. But, I was surprised to find Enclave by Ann Aguirre as one of the 2012 RITA Finalists for Young Adult Romance!

I didn't remember it as a romance book, I thought it was more post-apocalyptic..but it's still on my to be read shelf so I'll read it this month and see for myself :)

WELCOME TO THE APOCALYPSE

In Deuce’s world, people earn the right to a name only if they survive their first fifteen years. By that point, each unnamed ‘brat’ has trained into one of three groups–Breeders, Builders, or Hunters, identifiable by the number of scars they bear on their arms. Deuce has wanted to be a Huntress for as long as she can remember.

As a Huntress, her purpose is clear—to brave the dangerous tunnels outside the enclave and bring back meat to feed the group while evading ferocious monsters known as Freaks. She’s worked toward this goal her whole life, and nothing’s going to stop her, not even a beautiful, brooding Hunter named Fade. When the mysterious boy becomes her partner, Deuce’s troubles are just beginning.

Down below, deviation from the rules is punished swiftly and harshly, and Fade doesn’t like following orders. At first Deuce thinks he’s crazy, but as death stalks their sanctuary, and it becomes clear the elders don’t always know best, Deuce wonders if Fade might be telling the truth. Her partner confuses her; she’s never known a boy like him before, as prone to touching her gently as using his knives with feral grace.

As Deuce’s perception shifts, so does the balance in the constant battle for survival. The mindless Freaks, once considered a threat only due to their sheer numbers, show signs of cunning and strategy… but the elders refuse to heed any warnings. Despite imminent disaster, the enclave puts their faith in strictures and sacrifice instead. No matter how she tries, Deuce cannot stem the dark tide that carries her far from the only world she’s ever known.

I completed March challenge! I read A Rogue by Any Other Name by Sarah MacLean and it was amazing, a 5 stars book :) I wasn't expecting less form Sarah MacLean, she's one of my favorite authors.

Reading Romances March Challenge

It's time to pick another book for the Reading Romances Challenge, here are the options:

TOPICS:
- read a book whose author either has a three-word name or carries an official middle initial.
- read a book that you have previously started and meant to continue, but keep failing to do so.
THEMES:
- read a book that is set in Scotland or has a Highlander as a character.
- read a book with a medical theme, plot, cover, or setting.
SPECIAL EVENTS:
International Womens’ Month: – read a book that has a single female figure on the cover.
Reading Romance’s Blogiversary: – read a book that has been reviewed or featured at the blog!

I wasn't sure I could participate this month....until I got yesterday A Rogue by Any Other Name by Sarah MacLean. It's perfect for the International Womens’ Month topic (read a book that has a single female figure on the cover).

By the way, I started to read it today but it was so amazing it took me only a couple of hours to finish it :)

Oh, and my challenge for February was to read A Midsummer Night's Sin (Blackthorn Brothers #2) by Kasey Michaels. I really enjoyed it ;)

Reading Romances February Challenge

Hello guys! February is here and this month at the Reading Romances Challenge 2012 you can choose between 5 options to read, but I'll go with:

Valentine’s day: Read a book that has a predominantly color “red” cover, that has a kissing/embracing couple on its cover, or whose title has either the following words: kiss, heart or love.

A Midsummer Night's Sin (Blackthorn Brothers #2) by Kasey Michaels is great for this challenge. It's red, and the couple is like embracing...

I'm pretty excited about this one, I loved the first book of the series: The Taming of the Rake.

BTW, last month I said I was going to Read a book that is first of a series, by an author that is “new” to you or a debut novel by an author. I read The Next Always by Nora Roberts, and really liked it!

Reading Romance Challenge 2012

I made a promise to myself not to enter as many challenge as last year....but they are so many tempting challenges. But, I found the Reading Romances Challenge 2012 at Reading Romances and it got me because it's different from any other challenges I've participated before.

"The Reading Romances Challenge is not about the amount of books you read, but the variety of titles you’ll have read when the challenge is over! Our goal is to read a bit of everything related to romance and open our minds to new genres we wouldn’t usually read."

Challenge Guidelines:

• The 2012 Reading Romances Challenge will run from Jan 1, 2012 – Dec 31, 2012.

• Anyone can join, you don’t need to have a blog. Feel free to sign-up in the comments – you can post reviews to any book site (i.e. Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Smashwords, Goodreads, Librarything, Shelfari etc).

• I’ll post a list of romance sub-genres and a few cool themes for you to choose from each month (you can read all of them or just a couple).

• You can list your books before reading them (by leaving a comment on the post with the topics for that month) or just put them in a wrap-up post. If you list them, don’t feel obligated to read them, changes are welcomed!

• When you sign up in the linky, put the direct link to your post about joining the Reading Romances Challenge. If you don’t have a blog, please link it to the page where you post your reviews (Goodreads, Shelfari, Amazon etc).

• You don’t have to participate every month, but please try to!

• Sign-ups will be open until Dec 15, 2012, so feel free to join at any time throughout the year. I will never tell you to read one specific author, but I might suggest a few titles and authors to give you some ideas.

• You can read the same author more than once and the books can be old or new, but they must be read during the course of the challenge.

• Books used in this challenge may be used in other challenges.

• Books can be in any format – paper, audio, ebook.
