In the meantime, Reyes is back in prison and none too happy about it . . . so Charley thinks, until she is carjacked by the dark-haired rake, who swears the very man he went to prison for killing is not only alive, but close by. And he wants Charley to find him.

While a visit to her old friend Rocket sheds no light on Reyes’s situation, Charley finds out the man’s wife is still alive and time is running out. Finding her before she dies would be a miracle, but she has to try. Together with the help of a fashion-impaired receptionist named Cookie, Charley sets out to bring the bad guys to justice. She just hopes Reyes is not one of them. And that she’s not hallucinating from her self-induced bout with insomnia.

It's difficult to say something different from a series you already said you love, but yes, I loved this book and the Charley Davidson series is one of my favorites!

This time I wasn't too crazy about Reyes Farrow, Charley's sexy and powerful 'boyfriend'. Actually, I think I disliked him. He was too rough and I can't believe he hurt Charley the way he did, I felt really bad for her. I don't know if in the next book he will redeem himself, but right now I don't think Charley should care about him. (too hard, maybe?)

But in this book there is much more information about Reyes' past and his human 'father'. It's very dark, darker than I thought. Also, there is a little bit of more info about other supernatural beings, and what's probably going to happen at Charley's future.

Overall, read the Charley Davidson series if you want to read something fun. Now I have to wait for the next book of the series, Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet, which is going to be released October 30th 2012.

My pick: Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet (Charley Davidson #4) by Darynda Jones

Sometimes being the grim reaper really is that. Grim. And since Charley’s last case went so awry, she has taken a couple months off to wallow in the wonders of self-pity. But when a woman shows up on her doorstep convinced someone is trying to kill her, Charley has to force herself to rise above. Or at least get dressed. She quickly realizes something is amiss when everyone the woman knows swears she’s insane. The more they refute the woman’s story, the more Charley believes it.

In the meantime, the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, has been cleared of all charges. He is out of prison and out of Charley’s life, as per her wishes and several perfectly timed death threats. But his absence has put a serious crimp in her sex life. While there are other things to consider, like the fact that Albuquerque has been taken hostage by an arsonist, Charley is having a difficult time staying away. Especially when it looks like Reyes may be involved. Just when life was returning to normal, Charley is thrust back into the world of crime, punishment, and the devil in blue jeans.

Cookie explains that a friend of hers named Mimi disappeared five days earlier and that she just got a text from her setting up a meet at a coffee shop downtown. They show up at the coffee shop, but no Mimi. But Charley finds a message on the bathroom wall. Mimi left a clue, a woman’s name. Mimi’s husband explains that his wife had been acting strange since she found out an old friend of hers from high school had been found murdered a couple weeks prior. He’s left his body because he’s being tortured by demons who want to lure Charley closer. But Reyes can’t let that happen. Because if the demons get to Charley, they’ll have a portal to heaven. And if they have a portal to heaven…well, let’s just say it wouldn’t be pretty. Can Charley handle hot nights with Reyes and even hotter days tracking down a missing woman? Will Cookie ever get a true fashion sense? And is there enough coffee and chocolate in the world to fuel them as they do?

It's difficult to review a series you love, because probably every book will be great for you and sometimes you just want to say: I loved it!

Well, Second Grave on the Left is that kind of book. It's the second book from the Charley Davidson series, and Charley is still funny and amazing. She's leaning more about her powers and still have the support of her amazing best friend, Cookie. She is now helping Cookie find one of her other friends, who is missing because probably someone wants to kill her. But why?

Anyway, I thought / wanted Reyes to be more present in this book. At first Charley and him were kind of fighting but then he was being attacked and waiting to die. Of course, nobody would have allowed that, much less Charley. I don't want to say more because of spoilers, but while tying to find him Charley discovers some things that left me wanting more and thinking 'now what Charley?'.

Overall, if by any case you haven't read the Charley Davidson series, and you like urban fantasy, hilarious characters and hot bad boys, you have to start reading it asap.

And it’s her job to convince them to “go into the light.” But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e. murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she’s been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life…and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely.

I don't know why I haven't read this book before! What was I thinking?

First Grave on the Right starts with Charley being awaken by a ghost, who was killed and wants to know who and why. Apparently, his case is linked with two other deaths, and Charley, with the help of her uncle, is going to give peace to them.

But Charley is also a 'private investigator', and she was just beaten by an angry husband. But is doesn't matter, she has so many things to deal with, as the incredible hot guy who keep appearing in her dreams and well, doing amazing stuff to her.

Confession time: I'm in love with Charley, and I want to be her best friend! (Forget Cookie). She's so much fun and doesn't give a damn about other people. She enjoys life and she see the dead...but I think she actually likes it.

And don't make me talk about Reyes *sigh*. He's hot in a creepy way. Weird, I never thought I could like a character like him, but here I am. I have to say I was uncomfortable with the way Reyes and Charley met when they were teens, but ignoring that, he fulfills my unknown desires for bad men. (?)

The author, Darynda Jones, knows how to grab my attention. I started this book and I couldn't stop until I finished it. I even dreamed about it. I like it so much, the twists, the characters, the humor, that I had to get the second book right away, ignoring my to-be-read pile.

Let me just say this, if you like characters with strong personality, hot and maybe creepy guys, crazy twists and paranormal stuff, you need to read this one ASAP.
