Dean, James  Pete the Cat: Pete at the Beach Harper, 2013.  $16.99 EARLY READER  Content: G.
Pete and his brother Bob and his mother go to the beach.  As soon as they get there, Bob wants to go surfing.  Pete is scared of the water, so he builds a sandcastle and plays ball with his mom.  Eventually, Pete gets hot enough that he wants to cool off in the water.  Once in the water, he decides to try surfing.  Pete learns that some things can be scary, but sometimes they can just be fun.

This is a simple story about trying new things.  The illustrations of the cats are cute and fun.  Each page has 2-3 simple sentences for new readers.
